usd408Unified School District 408 provides K-12 education for the residents of Marion, Florence, and the rural areas of the USD408 boundaries. Three attendance centers (Marion Elementary School, Marion Middle School and Marion High School) support district enrollment of 514 for the 2015-2016 school year. District 408 has, for the second year in a row, been named one of the top 500 schools in the Nation by Newsweek magazine, and was the highest ranked school from Kansas in Newsweek’s rankings.

Extra-curricular activities include: fine arts for vocal/instrumental music and thespian activity, National Honor Society, Quiz Bowl, forensics, debate, and numerous student organizations. For athletes, the district fields teams in football, cross-country, volleyball, basketball, wrestling, track, baseball and golf.

usd408-gymHighlighting the facilities are two buildings built as a partnership with the City of Marion. A Sports Aquatic Center houses the gymnasium, indoor pool and walking track. The Performing Arts Center is the perfect 550 seat venue for both school performances and community events. These two venues have solidified the linkage of school and city in the minds of the community. Both the City and USD408 work hand-in-hand to provide the best educational opportunities possible.
